Suicide rates in the United States are near and at an all-time high with more than 48,000 Americans dying by suicide each year. Suicide is the tenth leading cause of death for all Americans and the second leading cause of death for Americans between the ages of 10 and 34. In particular, there has been rising suicide rates for middle school age girls, veterans and middle-age Caucasian men. What affect the Coronavirus will have on the suicide rate remains unknown as we are dealing with unprecedented and very challenging times. Many Americans may suffer the loss of someone close to them as the result of the virus.
