1) Food insecurity in New Haven is a bell weather for economic disparity, racism, untreated metal health and addiction. Food insecurity in New Haven2) My research focuses on building community based organization that as foretold by Dr. King are “….engaged in the task of organizing people into permanent groups to protect their own self-interest and to produce change in their behalf”3) My case Study research is centered on such organization that was born from participatory research centered on lived experience that recognizes individuals that have experienced poverty, homelessness, and food insecurity are the true experts in these experiences.4) I found that the success of WTH was researchers leveraged their power to forge partnerships with community organizations and local , state and federal policy makers and to create a space for marginalized populations
